What happens

Rowan is a servant at the bottom of everything. Knights kick him around for sport. Nobles treat him like furniture. His whole world is made of small cruelties and the weight of knowing his place. Then he finds a ring, dull and worthless-looking, lying in the dirt. It doesn't seem like much. But the thing that changes is Rowan himself. Power wakes up inside him, something that doesn't care about the crowns that run the world. One by one, the people who made his life small begin to understand what he's become.
